On Menorah and KGB archives

My recent visit to the Jewish Center ‘Menorah’ in Dnipro city returned my mind to the mid-2000s.

Intent on restoring the historical memory of the Ukrainian nation, we in the SBU declassified archives of the KGB of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.

I vividly remember the horrible Collection #13, the collection of documents regarding the persecution of Jewish organizations by the Soviet government.

No less atrocious were the materials of Collection #68, printed versions of which had been compiled on the basis of the operative archives of the Ukrainian KGB. It contained and still contains the documents on the shooting of Jews during World War II.

I also clearly recollect the return to the Jewish religious community of the Torah Scrolls – the decision on that was taken back in 2007. Communists fought to the bitter end against that act of dignity and justice.

The documents that we have found still stand before my eyes. They bear record to joint fight of Ukrainians and Jews against the Soviet and Nazi regimes. A lot was done to save Jews by the Ukrainian priest Andrey Sheptytsky, and Roman Shukhevych’s wife Nataliya hid a Jewish girl named Irina Raitenberg in her home.

Meeting with the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro, the honorable Shmuel Kaminetzky, was an unforgettable experience. His perspectives on improving the lives of Jews and all citizens of Dnipro were fascinating. His compassion and concern for the people of Ukraine is clear.

From now on the exhibition of the museum will be supplemented with a book that I donated entitled Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. It contains 155 documents and separate cases that I have declassified in 2008

The Justice Movement of Valentyn Nalyvaichenko demands the case on Poroshenko and his partners company’s airplanes that carried Yanukovych’s henchmen in 2014 to be investigated

The flight records for Business Airlines show that during February 20-24, 2014 the airplanes of the airline operated flights from Kyiv to Donetsk, Simferopol, as well as to Russia. This is according to Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, the Leader of the Justice Movement during a press conference at the UNIAN information agency.

“During 2010-2014 Yanukovych’s cronies used the planes of Ukrprominvest (VIP-aviation, known as Business Airlines – editor’s note), founded by Poroshenko together with his partners Kononenko and Hladkovskyi,” Nalyvaichenko stated.

Nalyvaichenko continued that “I address directly President Poroshenko the demand that he must criminally investigate the escape from Ukraine of Yanukovych’s cronies during February 20-24, 2014. Escape, I emphasize, to Russia! My Justice Movement will work pro bono to help uncover the details of this case as more than 3.5 years have passed without any government-backed investigation. We demand the case to be investigated and the lists of individuals and cargoes carried by the airplanes belonging to the company owned by the President to be made public.”

Whatever measures Poroshenko would use to accuse and persecute those who are not loyal to him, Nalyvaichenko assured that he would protect interests and rights of every Ukrainian.

Nalyvaichenko then addressed Poroshenko directly that, “Today the question arises concerning Poroshenko himself. Whose interests are you advocating? You often accuse others of being criminals, traitors. But the time will come when you’ll have to answer who you are, Mr. President.”

Nalyvaichenko names key triggers for poverty in Ukraine
The Leader of the Justice Movement, Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, discussed the best means to tackle poverty in Ukraine. Nalyvaichenko mentioned this during the program The Big Interview on the NewsOne channel.

Nalyvaichenko said that the most important step is to prohibit those in government offices from practicing “business.” The Ukrainian budget loses a great part of its financial assets due to these corrupt practices.

“Ending ‘business in power’ and ‘power in business’ would save five billion dollars yearly, money which is stolen and sent to the off-shores, but should be directed to the budget and pension fund,” he added.

The political leader also noted that huge holes in the pension fund and budgetary financing of health workers and the army are the causes for poverty in the country.

As NewsOne has previously reported, Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, the leader of the Justice Movement, former SBU head, stated that he regards SBU summoning him for interrogation as political reprisal. The politician informed that 127 Ukrainian nationals have already contacted the legal centers of the Justice Movement after facing acts of intimidation and harassment by government authorities, due to their political beliefs.

Nalyvaichenko: My summons to interrogation framed and aimed at intimidation of corruption fighters

Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, the leader of the Justice Movement, former SBU head, stated that he regards SBU summoning him for interrogation as political reprisal.

Nalyvaichenko continued during the briefing that “At President Poroshenko’s direction repressions and harassment of activists continue, and even my summoning for interrogation by the SBU was fabricated and intended to intimidate the ones like me, who are blunt about their fight against corruption,” Nalyvaichenko said.

The politician underlined that he is determined to go to the interrogation to the security service on September 21.

“I will go and I’ll bring with me the documents that prove illegal ties of Poroshenko’s team and SBU leaders with the Russian FSB. In particular, I have an address of the deputy head of the SBU Oleg Frolov to the FSB concerning arrangement of political persecution targeting me,” he said, adding that the Russian Investigative Committee has already launched 4 criminal cases against him.

Valentyn Nalyvaichenko cancelled his trip to the U.S. due to the political situation in Ukraine

I cancelled my trip to the U.S., which was proposed per the invitation of our American partners, due to the political situation in Ukraine.

I feel obliged to stay here in Ukraine, together with my fellow citizens, including the Justice Movement activists, as they face politically motivated attacks on the part of the authorities.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s increasingly authoritarian actions have reached a new low, and he has now begun a large-scale repression of the opposition, in particular those who are members of anti-corruption organizations.

I was intended to discuss my strategy to win the war against Russian aggression and to regain Crimea, the battle against corruption, and the establishment of Anti-Corruption Courts. However, this discussion will have to wait.

I appreciate the consistent support that the United States has shown Ukraine over the past twenty-six years, and I encourage our American friends to supply Ukraine with the lethal weapons to stop Russian aggression.

I hope that when we next meet with our American partners, I can tell them that our nation is back-on-track.

Ukraine must use all mechanisms to release prisoner of conscience Chiygoz

The outrageous verdict delivered to our Crimean brother Akhtem Chiygoz, due to his political work supporting Crimean Tatars in Crimea, is a wake-up call to Ukrainians, especially to the Ukrainian authorities to take action!

Ukraine must use all international law mechanisms to release prisoner of conscience Chiygoz.

All the highest international platforms, United Nations first, international organizations and partners’ support must be used to support this political prisoner. The aggressor has to feel the effect of a consolidated international coalition in support of Chiygoz, in favor of Ukraine.

And one more thing. No less important.

Ukrainian parliament must finally recognize Crimean Tatars indigenous people of Ukraine – justice demands this!

Criminal investigation into Russian FSB officer, launched by Valentyn Nalyvaichenko

In the context of the ongoing harassment and interrogation of me by the SBU, I would like to remind all that in the summer of 2014 I launched an criminal investigation into Russian FSB officer Vladimir Kulishov, who is the head of the Russian Border Service. Specifically, the investigation was launched per Article 201, Part 2 (smuggling), Article 258-2, Part 1 (creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization), and Article 332 Part 3 (illegal movement of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation Colonel-General Kulishov of Russia led to his being charged with the illegal movement of the Russian heavy armor, armaments, servicemen and mercenaries from Russia to Ukraine.
The investigation was thorough, scrupulous, and was still in progress when I left the post of the SBU head in June 2015.

With this in mind, I wonder where is that case file today? Was it submitted to court? What decision did the court take?

That’s who should be punished for violation of the Ukrainian border and aggression against us!

I totally agree with the U.S. Special Representative Kurt Volker who openly advised president Poroshenko not to detain Saakashvili, but to “focus on the issues of the rule of law and governing a country amid the Russian aggression”.

Putin’s initiative on “engagement” of peacekeepers is a trap

We here in Ukraine must understand what is behind this initiative. It is just another military aggression. Putin will change Russian soldiers into “blue helmets” and leave them absolutely legitimately in our territory. Ukrainian government needs to take action to prevent this from happening.

President Poroshenko, and all government officials need to act vigorously and raise the issue of countering Russian aggression at the next meeting of the U.N. General Assembly in New York.

My initiative is as follows: Ukrainian leadership needs to gather all evidence of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and submit it to the U.N. General Assembly, U.N. Security Council. Such initiative must originate from Ukraine.
